Max has been a certified therapy dog since 2019, and he loves his job! As a therapy dog, Max has been trained to provide affection, comfort, and support to people in settings like hospitals, schools, and nursing homes. Max's job is to be relaxed, well-behaved, and friendly in situations where people need a calming presence and a paw to hold to make them feel less alone. Research has found therapy dogs help to decrease both blood pressure and stress levels while increasing overall emotional well-being (Thelwell, 2019).
